Nurse Aide I
Many nursing programs require potential students to be a certified nurse aide before qualifying for their program. Our nurse aide training program will provide the required skills to become certified as well as the ability to perform personal care for patients, residents, the elderly and others requiring assistance in a healthcare or home setting. Emphasis is placed on the following:

The nurse aide program also includes a clinical component which includes one week at a skilled nursing facility. Upon completion of the nurse aide program, students are prepared to take the North Carolina Nurse Aide Competency Examination, a requirement for listing on the NC Nurse Aide I Registry. CPR certification is included in the nurse aide class if needed for an extra fee.

Program Requirement:
Submit a completed admission application and enrollment agreement
High School, GED or College Transcript
Non-refundable registration fee
Government issued ID with picture and signature
Social Security Card (with signature)
Criminal Background (completed by Nursing Careers Institute)
Physical Examination (provide copy of last exam; must be within a year)
TB skin test (mandatory prior to clinical rotation and given during class if needed)
Verification of any immunizations; Hepatitis B is required or a declination form is acceptable.

Medication Aide/Tech
This NC Board of Nursing approved course is designed to meet the training requirements to become qualified as a medication aide. The primary role of a medication aide is to assist the licensed nurse (RN or LPN) in administering medications. Medication aides may be employed in long term care/skilled nursing facilities (nursing homes) and adult care facilities. The course is a 24 hour training, which includes 18 hours in the classroom and 6 hours in the lab. After successful completion, the student will be able to sit for a state-administered competency exam, and be listed on the NC Medication Aide Registry which is maintained by the NC Division of Health Service Regulation's Health Care Personnel .
